{"id":7597,"date":"2025-10-26T12:47:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T16:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.welshofharpersferry.com\/?post_type=evidence&amp;p=7597"},"modified":"2025-10-26T12:47:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T16:47:53","slug":"naturalization-intent-john-sheerer","status":"publish","type":"evidence","link":"https:\/\/migration.welshofharpersferry.com\/?evidence=naturalization-intent-john-sheerer","title":{"rendered":"Naturalization Intent: John Sheerer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Sheerer, an alien who has lately arrived in the United States and is desirous of being naturalized as a citizen thereof this day appeared in Court and in pursuance of the act of Congress made a report of himself, which report is in the following words, to wit: &#8220;I, John Sheerer make the following report of myself to the county court of Jefferson in the State of Virginia, that is to say I was born a Clones, County Monaghan, Ireland in 1812, that I am a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, owing allegiance to that Monarch and none other; that I migrated from Belfast in the year 1812; and that I intend to settle myself in the County of Jefferson, Virginia, one of the United States, and the said John Sheerer, made oath of his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States and renounce all allegiance to any foreign prince, potentate or sovereignty whatever, and particularly to William IV.
