{"id":7399,"date":"2025-09-15T21:49:23","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T01:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.welshofharpersferry.com\/?post_type=evidence&amp;p=7399"},"modified":"2025-09-15T21:49:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T01:49:23","slug":"james-flanagan-murdered","status":"publish","type":"evidence","link":"https:\/\/migration.welshofharpersferry.com\/?evidence=james-flanagan-murdered","title":{"rendered":"James Flanagan, Murdered."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GEORGETOWN, August 19, 1856.<br>Mr. James Flanagan, a very worthy gentleman, and well known to many persons in the District, was brutally murdered on Thursday last by an individual named Sam Boyers. From all we can gather from our informant, (a gentleman from the spot,) the murderer had become soured against Mr. Flanagan in consequence of the latter having discharged him from his limestone quarries where he had been employed for some time. The day on which the murder was committed, Mr. Flanagan caught the wife of Boyers on his land getting wood and ordered her off. She became enraged, and went and told her husband, who immediately pursued Mr. F and beat his brains out with a stone. Mr. Flanagan was a gentleman of the very first respectability&#8211; about fifty years of age, and a citizen of Jefferson county, Va.
