Welsh, Largest Eel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another would-be winner, had we a contest for the largest eel, was sent in by Martin D. Welsh, Bakerton, W. Va., but sad to relate, the Fisherman&#8217;s Luck contests do not include a niche in which we could place the slippery, slimp creatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Welsh, whose &#8220;entry&#8221; was accompanied by a duly sworn affidavit giving the measurements of the eel, showed it to be a regular whopper. The eel measured 39 1\/2 inches long, 10 1\/2 inches girth and weighed 5 pounds.
