{"id":5406,"date":"2019-12-04T22:07:12","date_gmt":"2019-12-05T03:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.welshofharpersferry.com\/?post_type=evidence&amp;p=5406"},"modified":"2019-12-04T22:07:12","modified_gmt":"2019-12-05T03:07:12","slug":"knight-tournament","status":"publish","type":"evidence","link":"https:\/\/migration.welshofharpersferry.com\/?evidence=knight-tournament","title":{"rendered":"Knight Tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday last&nbsp;, it was our pleasure to be present at the Tournament at Reinhart&#8217;s School House, where a large number of persons had gathered to witness the equestrian exercises, and to take part in the ceremonies incident to the interesting occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 10 1\/2 o&#8217;clock the knights, more than twenty in number, were appropriately addressed by JOSEPH McMURRAN, Esq., after which the tilting commenced, and was kept up until nearly 2 o&#8217;clock. The following gentlemen acted as officers of the tourney: &#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief Marshal. &#8212; Capt. Henry F. Kearney<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assistant Marshals. &#8212; Benj. Daniels and Frank Grove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judges. &#8212; Capt. Lee Moler, Pax. Marshall and Newton Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below will be found the names of the knights who entered the lists, and contested for prizes: &#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cruel War. &#8212; S. Licklider,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1st Virginia Cavalry. &#8212; I. Jones,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silver Star. Jabob Osborn,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sandy Ridge. &#8212; H. Osborn,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sixteen Nights in a Bar-Room. &#8212; J.S. Moler,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Duffields. &#8212; Taylor Link,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Independent. &#8212; Hess Reinhart,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Night we all got Drunk. &#8212; J. Hunter,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rattlesnake Run. &#8212; Frank Licklider,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mysterious Knight. &#8212; Wm. Reinhart,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wild Man. &#8212; George Ronemous,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adamstown. &#8212; G.W. Moler,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baltimore. &#8212; J. Anspach,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Potomac View. &#8212; Jas. Orndorff,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mountain Ruffian. &#8212; John Badger,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shepherdstown. &#8212; Edward Schaffer,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canto. &#8212; James Melvin,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fenian Brotherhood. &#8212; P. Halpin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After some very spirited riding the judges decided the following knights to be entitled to the prizes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jacob Osborn, entitled to the first honor, who named as Queen of Love and Beauty, Miss Millie Link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wm. Staley, second in the list of contestants, selected Miss Ella Rentch, as First Maid of Honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A. P.
