  • Analysis of Ore from Old Flanagan Farm

    An expert from Canada is drilling for a certain quality of ore on Mrs. A. A. Lamon’s Rock Hill farm near Bakerton, this county, and it is hoped that an analysis may prove it to be of great value.

  • John Moore’s Trying Day

    John Moore, of Sample’s Manor, who works at the Bakerton lime plant, had a trying day of it last Wednesday. He was first struck on the head by a flying stone from a blast, which caused him to become faint. Later he thought that he felt strong enough to walk, and started, when he fell before a descending truck, which ran over him and caused a double fracture of his leg.

  • Welsh, Lewis Married

    Mr. Martin D. Welsh, of Bakerton, and Miss Laura E. Lewis, of Frederick county, Md., were married in Hagerstown last Friday, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Ernest W. Aaron, of Shenandoah Junction.

  • Flanagan, Hunter visit James Flanagan

    Mr. and Mrs. Walter Flanagan and their son Harold, of Strasburg, Va., and Miss Nellie Hunter, of Stephens City, Va., have been visiting at Mr. James Flanagan’s, at Bakerton.

  • Flanagan visits son in Baltimore

    Mr. James Flanagan, of Bakerton, is visiting his son, John G. Flanagan, in Baltimore.

  • Bakerton Scarlet Fever Scare; Kretzer boy dies.

    A six-year-old son of George Kretzer, living at Flanagan’s wharf, near Bakerton, died last Monday after a brief illness from malignant scarlet fever, and was buried on Tuesday. It is said that scarlet fever exists in three of four families in that neighborhood, and there is considerable anxiety lest it shall spread further.

  • Married: Welsh, Kidwiler

    In the presence of a few relatives and friends, at the home of Mrs. Robert Cross in Shenandoah Junction, on Thursday evening, January 29th, at 7.30 o’clock, Miss Annie M. Kidwiler was married to Lawrence H. Welsh, both of Bakerton, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Ernest W. Aaron, the bride’s pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Welsh will reside at Bakerton. –Advocate.

  • Flanagan butchers large porkers

    Our friend James Flanagan, of Bakerton, killed some unusually big porkers last week, the largest weighing 468 pounds and another 452. He presented the editor of the Register with a generous supply of very nice sausage, which was much appreciated. Wm. H Burnett, living west of town, butchered a hog last week that weighed 435 pounds.
