    Mr. William Flanagan, of Bakerton, was among the callers at the Register office on Monday.

  • Obituary: James Smith Flanagan

    Mr. James Flanagan, a lifelong resident of Jefferson county and a respected farmer of the Bakerton neighborhood, died Tuesday morning at the age of 69 years. He had been in failing health for the past year and had been confined to his room for the past two months with a complication of diseases that baffled the skill of all physicians. He was a good man, exemplary in his conduct and upright in all his dealings. He is survived by five sons and four daughters: Walter J., of Strasburg, Va., John G., of Baltimore, William and Alvey, of Bakerton, and Oscar, at home; Miss Martha Flanagan, at home, Mrs. Thomas Welsh, Mrs. Annie Moler and Mrs. William Bowman, of Bakerton. The funeral service is to be held at Bethesda Church this afternoon, with Rev. Absalom Knox in charge, and the remains will be interred in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.

    Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. L. Lamp and daughters, Misses Helen and Dorothy, of Washington, are visiting Miss Martha Flanagan at Bakerton.

  • Flanagan, of Baltimore, visits Relatives in County

    We are pleased to have a call on Tuesday from Mr. John G. Flanagan, of Baltimore, formerly of the Bakerton neighborhood, who is visiting his relatives in this county. Mr. Flanagan’s wife and two children are also at the old home.

  • Walter Flanagan collapses from shock during storm

    A terrific storm passed over Strasburg, Va., one day last week, and the lightning struck three dwellings in the town, stunning a dozen persons. The plant of the Standard Lime Company, near Strasburg, was struck, and Walter Flanagan, formerly of this county, who has been in delicate health, collapsed from the shock. He afterward recovered, however.

  • National Highway Garage Sells Automobiles to Area Residents

    The National Highway Garage has sold automobiles to the following during the past week: Maxwell touring cars to W. L. Manuel, Bakerton, and Joseph Williams, colored, west of town; Ford touring car to E. T. Licklider Ford chassis to B. F. Hartzell, and a Ford roadster to Golden and Leo Walper.

  • Walter Flanagan Ill at Winchester

    Mr. Walter Flanagan, of Strasburg, Va., formerly of Bakerton, this county, has been very ill in a hospital in Winchester, but is now improving.

    Mr. and Mrs. James Knock and Mrs. Hannah F. Knock, of Washington, are guests at the home of Mr. James Flanagan at Bakerton.

  • Smith Family Motors To Flanagan’s at Bakerton

    Mr. D. Sidney Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith and their daughter, Mary, of Frederick, Md., motored to Bakerton on Sunday to spend the day with the family of Mr. James Flanagan.

  • Palace of Pleasure at Bakerton

    On Friday, June 30th, in the “Palace of Pleasure” at Bakerton will be given an entertainment consisting of music and recitations by Prof. Stevens and Company, of Frederick, Md. Admission 10 and 20 cents.
