Hanging of John Brown & His Comrades

We are frequently asked as to the hanging of John Brown and his comrades– some persons supposing that all were hanged the same day. The facts are these: John Brown was hung December 2nd, 1859, at 11:15 o’clock a. m. Shields Green and Copeland, colored, at 11.14 a. m. December 16; Cooke and Coppie, whites, same day at 12 50 p. m., and Stevens and Hayslett on the 16th of March, 1860, at 12.20 p. m.
