The funeral service of Griggs Flanagan, whose sad death we recorded last week, was held Saturday morning at the home of his mother, Mrs. Bertha D. Flanagan, near Bakerton. The service was conducted by Rev. John C. Siler, of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. J. E. Triplett and Rev. Dr. Charles Ghiselin. The body was interred in the family lot in Elmwood Cemetery. An unusually large funeral cortege accompanied the body, and in addition many persons from town went to the cemetery for the last rites. There were many beautiful flowers and emblems, the grave being entirely covered with lovely floral designs. The faculty of the Shepherdstown Graded School sent a handsome design, representing gates ajar. The pallbearers were McClure Moler, Norman Houser, William Link, Charles Hutton, Robert Banks, and Reed Myers.
